The series may have concluded, and both India and Zimbabwe are looking forward to a much-needed break before their next international assignments, but there’s still one more One-Day International remaining to draw the curtains on this historic tour at the BCA stadium here on Wednesday.

The hosts, having secured two massive victories, have every reason to experiment fearlessly. After a rest day spent visiting cafes, catching up with friends, and ticking off last-minute shopping lists, the Indian team held a full training session under the warm afternoon sun. Local security and venue staff keenly observed Baroda’s Yastika Bhatia – who is yet to feature in this series – as she progressed in the nets.

Harmanpreet Kaur, who had been battling a fever for a few days, including when she scored her sensational century in the second match, also took some light knocks on the practice pitch before launching some big hits straight down the ground in the nets.

The bowling unit, however, not getting to bat as frequently as they might have liked, posed some tough questions for the team management. If workload management calculations are favorable, India might consider handing a debut cap to pacer Nandani Sharma.

With a multi-format series, including Tests, scheduled in South Africa in December, India will want to get any last-minute experiments out of the way here.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwean players made a trip to the Statue of Unity, approximately 90 kilometers from Vadodara, while a few, including powerful batter Sharne Mayers – who missed the second match due to a thigh strain – stayed back to complete their recovery.

The Lady Chevrons’ mission has been challenging. They haven’t yet managed to complete a full 50 overs successfully, often falling short by just a few balls in bravely contested matches. The side is also aiming for a target score of 230-250 and hopes to conclude their stay in India on a high note.

The match is scheduled to begin at 2 PM.
