Queillan Salkield will headline his first event in his home country.
On Tuesday, the UFC announced that Salkield will face fellow top-10 lightweight Benoit Saint-Denis in the main event of UFC Sydney, which will take place at Afterpay Arena in Sydney, Australia, on February 6.
No other bouts for the event have been announced yet.
A 2024 graduate of the Contender Series, Salkield (13-1) has ascended through the lightweight ranks during his brief UFC tenure, currently holding the seventh spot in the lightweight division. Salkield is undefeated in six UFC fights, boasting five stoppage victories and five ‘Performance of the Night’ bonuses. Most recently, he submitted Mateusz Gamrot at UFC Vegas 120 in August.
Saint-Denis, a UFC fighter since 2021 (17-4, 1 NC), has been on the cusp of title contention multiple times in the UFC, but has faltered at inopportune moments. Saint-Denis holds a 9-4 record in the promotion, most recently losing to Paddy Pimblett via submission at UFC 329 in July.
