India won the toss and opted to field against New Zealand.
After winning his third toss in three attempts, India captain Shreyas Iyer chose to field for the third time in the T20I series against New Zealand.
India, who already lead the series 2-0, named an unchanged starting XI, with Ishan Kishan still recovering from a thigh strain that kept him out of the second T20I in Christchurch. It remains to be seen whether Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who replaced Kishan, will continue at No. 3.
New Zealand made three changes, all to their pace attack, with Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson missing as expected, and Nathan Smith also out. Adam Milne, Kyle Jamieson, and Matthew Fisher came into the side.
India: 1 Abhishek Sharma, 2 Sanju Samson (wk), 3 Vaibhav Suryavanshi, 4 Shreyas Iyer (capt), 5 Tilak Varma, 6 Naman Dhir, 7 Nitish Kumar Reddy, 8 Axar Patel, 9 Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10 Prince Yadav, 11 Arshdeep Singh.
New Zealand: 1 Finn Allen, 2 Tim Seifert (wk), 3 Bevon Jacobs, 4 Glenn Phillips, 5 Daryl Mitchell, 6 Michael Bracewell, 7 Mitchell Santner (capt), 8 Matthew Fisher, 9 Kyle Jamieson, 10 Adam Milne, 11 Jacob Duffy.
